The ADAM-rWBC uses microscopic cell counting method with a disposable plastic chip for counting residual white blood cells in platelet and red blood cell packs for transfusion. Leucoreduction of blood products by filtration requires a process control to monitor the amount or residual white blood cells (leucocyte) remaining in the pack. Accurate determination of residual leucocytes in blood components is high clinical importance. |
To date, several labor-intensive, time-consuming or expensive techniques have been used for this purpose. New accurate and affordable counting method is needed. |
