Construction
The manufacture of Alcad nickel-cadmium batteries is a combination of electrochemistry and precision mechanical and electrical engineering. The heart of every cell is a series of steel pockets which are made from finely perforated steel strip filled with active materials - nickel in the positive plate and cadmium in the negative.
Product ranges are available In both plastic and stainless steel containers. Plastic container cells. details of which are given In this data sheet, offer a number of features such as translucency so that electrolyte levels are visible to aid maintenance. corrosion resistance in wet and saline conditions. and ease of assembly. Polypropylene. with Its high Impact resistance, is used for the majority of the Alcad cell ranges.
All Alcad plastic cased nickel-cadmium cells are fitted with flip-top flame arresting vents as standard, and are UL recognized.
Alcad Quality
Alcad products are manufactured within a Quality Management System officially recognized as meeting the requirements of ISO 9001. The approval is subject to regular monitoring by Bureau Veritas to ensure that standards in design and manufacture of nickel cadmium pocket plate cells and batteries are maintained.
